Edition 154 - Friday 23rd July 2021

On the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of May 2021, 6 students form NSGHS became Model United Nations delegates at the prestigious MUNA event sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of the North Shore and held at Epping Boy’s High School. Teams were allocated countries before the event and this year the preparation time was very, very brief. Nonetheless, students navigated the preparation work with cooperation, dedication and determination.

Here’s what they had to say.

From Team ‘South Korea’- Alyssa Chong 10Y, Anna Stanic 9Y, Anvitha Vijay 9R

"I've learnt so much about how the United Nations operates and the varied positions countries are in. I made lots of friends from other schools who have promised to meet me again at MUNA 2022! It was such a fun, rewarding experience!"- Anvitha

“It’s hard to believe how much we’ve learned and how much we’ve grown in a few weeks”- Anna

I am proud of us as a team as we have managed to convince a lot of teams to support us and be comfortable with us in general, despite the amendment lost on very close margins. I think, given the very rushed preparations, we have certainly made an impact.

So far MUNA has been a wonderful learning experience for me and I’m certainly looking forward to participating in future events - definitely bringing home an award - with more preparation and experience! - Alyssa

From Team ‘Great Britain’ – Catherine Zhu, Phillipa Carnegie, Yirou Liu Quote:

"I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring." ~ inspired by David Bowie. (One of the convenors asked us to listen to all of the rise and fall of Ziggy stardust)

Many thanks,

Great Britain

Congratulations to our two MUNA 2021 teams. We are proud of their commitment, cleverness and class.
