National Latin Exam

In term 1 students learning Latin in years 9 to 12 participated in the ACL/NJCL National Latin Exam, which is run by the American Classical League. 88,000 students participated, not only from the United States of America but also throughout the world – Australia, Belgium, Belize, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, the Philippines, the Republic of Georgia, Russia, Scotland, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.

Once again, our students attained fantastic results and should be proud of what they have achieved.

Year 9 – 19 students competed in the Introductory Level

Full marks – 8 students - Guinevere Eatough, Sharon Jacob, Rebecca Ju, Isabella Loi, Grace Ma, Josephine Mao and Jayde Wang.

Summa Cum Laude (gold medal) – 13

Maxima Cum Laude (silver medal) – 4

Cum Laude (with praise) – 1

Year 10 – 24 students competed in the Beginner Level 1

Full marks – 7 students - Elisha Chen, Tanvi Bakre, Zihan Gao, Alicia Hooper, Emily Huang, Alexandra Suttor, and Cona Xu

Summa Cum Laude (gold medal) – 21

Maxima Cum Laude (silver medal) – 2

Magna Cum Laude (with great praise) – 1

Year 11 – 16 students competed in the Intermediate Level 1

Sylvana Pui and Yvonne Wang gained top marks with 38/40.
