School Communication Protocols

Our communication protocols have been put together to ensure that your enquiry reaches the appropriate staff member and is dealt with in a timely manner.

Where possible, please contact the school during school hours: 8:00-3:30pm by phoning the front office: 9922 6666.

Any contact outside of school hours should be directed to the school’s email so that your enquiry can be passed onto the relevant staff member: northsydgi-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au

Where possible, please arrange to speak directly with your teacher or other staff members during school hours.

If you need to make contact with a staff member outside of school hours, you may email them directly; however, you need to understand that they are not required to respond to your email outside of school hours: 8:00-3:30pm.

If your contact is of a more general nature, such as informing the school of illness, then you should send an email to the school’s email so that your message can be passed onto the relevant staff member: northsydgi-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au

External support services

The Wellbeing page on the school’s website contains links to external support services if parents or students need to talk to someone outside of school hours.

In the event of an emergency, please call 000Lifeline: 13 11 14, Kids Helpline: 1800 551 800, eHeadspace: 1800 650 890, Beyondblue Support Service: 1300 224 636, NSW Mental Health Line: 1800 011 511

Guidelines for school attendance during COVID – 19

Students must not attend school if unwell, even with mild symptoms of COVID-19. Any person with any COVID-19 symptoms must be sent home and not return to school unless:

  • they have a negative COVID-19 test result and are symptom free or
  • they have isolated for 7 days, when no medical certificate is available

In circumstances where students have other medical reasons for recurrent symptoms, a letter from their GP is sufficient to negate the requirement for a negative test.

Where a person has previously tested positive for COVID-19, NSW Health will provide them with a medical clearance that allows them to return to school. There is no requirement for the person to produce a negative test result. Students that have had COVID do not need to do a R.A.T. for 28 days after the onset of their COVID illness.

We ask all members of our community to complete a R.A.T. twice weekly until further notice. Sunday and Wednesday evening are the preferred timeslots.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.
