On Thursday, the 15th of August, three speakers from Blue Dragon, came to speak about their experiences rescuing trafficked and street children. These speakers included Blue Dragon Founder Michael Brosowski, as well as two Blue Dragon members, Vi and Kim.
Michael founded Blue Dragon to help children in Vietnam, which began with Michael teaching English to the shoe-shining boys on the streets of Hanoi and developing a passion for opening opportunities up to disadvantaged children. Now, almost two decades later, Blue Dragon’s reach has extended beyond just the borders of Vietnam, to rescue children who have been trafficked through the borders in China.
Michael, Vi and Kim all had their own stories to share with us, including Vi, who was one of the first street children that Michael taught English to and has since been working to help children who are in the position he once was. We also heard from Kim, a former school teacher in Australia who saw first-hand the positive impact Blue Dragon has had on young children during her volunteer work alongside Michael.
SHOUT! has been extremely proud to have been able to have Michael speak at our school again. We would also like to thank everyone who attended and made the talk as successful and amazing as it was.
At the end of the day, we were able to surprise Michael, Vi and Kim with a donation of $3000 which will go towards helping more children in need, supporting Blue Dragon’s future endeavours in giving all children a voice and shouting for those who can’t.
